Hi y'all, my name is Helen Kiely-O'Regan. I was born in 1966 in Bessboro, Cork City of Kerry parentage. I was adopted at 4 months old by wonderful parents, Gerald and Maureen Kiely and I grew up in Bundoran, Co Donegal.

When I was 22, I moved to New York City and later lived with my first husband, Joe Palomera, who was indigenous Mexican

I came home almost 10 years later to care for my mum.

I returned to the US in 2003 and spent 2 months traveling with Joe to visit friends and family. Even though Joe and I had separated, we remained friends and spoke on the phone every week.

I returned to the US again in 2004 and met and married Ray, a full blooded Navajo from Navajo Nation, Arizona. The marriage only lasted 3 months but I remained close to some members of his family, his sister Lucinda and nieces Christy and Bee whom I consider my sister and nieces. I came back home to Ireland and back living in Donegal.

I moved to Cork City  in 2009, and later married the love of my life, Michael O'Regan in 2012.

We moved up to live in Co Leitrim in 2015

I have recently connected with some of my birth family via DNA and have even met one of my first cousins, it was surreal to finally hug and see someone who was my flesh and blood. I have a great connection also via text and phone with several 1st and 2nd cousins whom I feel a very special bond with and I hope very soon in time to finally meet with them too. Life is too short and too precious as I so well know. 

I have written poetry, song lyrics, short stories and I'm now writing a novel about the years that I lived in New York.

I qualified as a nursery nurse/childcare in 1988. Did hotel reception course in 1986. Became a reflexologist in 2007 and an Indian head massage therapist in 2008. 

I sang country and played guitar in various local bands and we also played Irish trad and jazz. 

I published 3 books last year, From Rougey to the Lee, (2)Forbidden Love and Other Poems, (3)Song Lyrics by Helen Kiely-O'Regan, then I combined all 3 together and made one book. The first two poetry books and the combination one are out of print and no longer available for purchase, but the good news is..........

............I have since published a new edition including all the Poetry, plus 10 new Poems and the Song lyrics, and they are available on amazon.com and Kindle. The book is called ROUGEY TO THE LEE 

For some reason, beyond my control, the kindle cover may vary slightly from the paperback cover on the Poetry book and the Short Story book, that is the kindle might be black on top of the postcard pic and the paperback might be pink on top of the postcard pic. THE PICTURE ON THE FRONT OF MY SHORT STORY BOOK ABOVE, ''SUBWAY ANGEL AND OTHER STORIES'', IS A PHOTO TAKEN BY MY DAD, GERALD(GERRY) KIELY, TAKEN CIRCA 1960. IT WAS ANOTHER ONE THAT BECAME A POSTCARD AND SHOWS BUNDORAN BEACH AND THE BACK OF MAIN STREET, TAKEN FROM ROUGEY WALK. 

Some of these short stories are totally fiction, and some are based on or are actually true.

The following are totally fiction. 6. The Mysterious Parcel. 8. The Life changing Win.  11. The Man who seemed to know everything.  19. Seventh Avenue.

All the others are either based on or are actually true with names changed or altered and some minor details altered for privacy. 

It all started at the city by the Lee..... is a collection of almost 200 poems and 4 short stories. The poems feature all different topics, including love, travel, memories, grief, pain, anxiety, depression. And two of the short stories are based on fact, Wanting to Belong is growing up as an adopted child, and the second story is Remembering a 1970s/80s All Hallows Eve [Halloween]  The third story The Stalker,  is fiction. It tells the story of a young teacher who is popular with her work and lives a quiet life on her own, but suddenly finds herself the victim of a man who keeps asking her out and won't take no for an answer.  The fourth short story , The Woman who had pushed too far,   is about a lady who works hard but still struggles and finds herself tortured by a lady that she befriended, and who keeps demanding money and things and intrudes on her life.
